President

Danny is our owner and landscape designer with a Bachelor in Landscape Architecture from UGA. He founded The Nelson Group in 1992 with a vision, and he has built The Nelson Group into the most reputable, experienced, and recommended landscape design, build, and care firm in Savannah for over 30 years and counting. Danny has been featured in Coastal Living, South Magazine, Savannah Magazine, as well as participating in the Extreme Makeover Home Edition Savannah. He was awarded the “Building with Trees Award of Excellence” in 2000 by the National Arbor Day Foundation, and the Best In Savannah Landscape Company in 2009, 2010, and 2011.

Landscape Designer

A native of Savannah, Liesl is the newest member of The Nelson Group team. She has over 26 years of experience in the landscape design/build industry, both in Savanna and South Carolina. Liesl graduated from The University of Georgia with a degree in Landscape Architecture. Her knowledge and experience in planting design and customer service has made her a great fit for The Nelson Group’s clients. “It is exciting to work with clients, learning their vision and perimeters for their space, creating and implementing a unique design that meets their needs. It is very fulfilling to know they will use and enjoy their landscape for many years to come.”

Construction Division Manager

Bruce is a native of Tucson, Arizona. After his service in the US Navy, he moved to South Carolina to begin work in the family landscape business. This is where he found his true passion for landscaping, and this passion has evolved into 30+ years of providing high quality landscapes to the industry. Bruce has a wealth of knowledge ranging from irrigation, hardscaping, lighting, and water features, to all aspects of construction. As the Production Manager of the Construction Division, he oversees all aspects of installation. Leading the team from design to finished product, Bruce provides high quality landscapes with great customer service.

Maintenance Division Manager

Ricky has been with The Nelson Group since 2002 and is an expert in the field of landscape management. He is extremely well-rounded and experienced in all areas of turf and shrub maintenance, landscape renovation, and large scape, high end property maintenance. With a heart of gold, a solid work ethic, an endearing personality, and trustworthy character, Ricky is the true backbone of the company. He is a “Ricky on the spot” when it comes to meeting the customers’ needs and getting the job done.

Office Manager

Buddy is the central hub in the business office for customers and employees when it comes to meeting their needs or getting answers to their questions. Impeccable work ethic, attention to detail, outstanding customer service and a strong desire to succeed make Buddy a Gold Star Excellence Award winner. Buddy is a well-rounded individual with a background including receiving a BFA in Graphic Design from UGA, being a former member of the Redcoat Marching Band, a video producer, a theater performer, and having over 20 years of office management experience. He returned home to Savannah in 2017 after nearly 20 years in Seattle, WA.
